Synaptics featuring smart edge AI, biometrics tech at Computex

 

Synaptics is at Computex this week in Taipei, Taiwan where it will feature a wide variety of its portfolio including biometric fingerprint sensors for consumer and enterprise PCs and several edge AI processing use case demonstrations.

“Synaptics is laser focused on innovating at the smart edge and across our unique human interface portfolio and we are thrilled to be able to demonstrate our cutting-edge solutions at Computex,” explains Saleel Awsare, senior vice president and general manager, IoT Division, Corporate Marketing and Investor Relations at Synaptics. “We have a very robust roadmap of compelling products with key engagements at global customer and ecosystem partners and are excited about the opportunity to meet with them at this event.”

The human interface solutions pioneer will showcase its Smart Edge AI including Face ID and Voice ID without enrollment and without internet. Synaptics notes that its new Smart Edge AI AudioSmart family, which is already shipping in the millions, includes the world’s first fully integrated SoCs comprising neural network acceleration, a proprietary wake word engine with support for custom wake words, and highly-advanced far-field voice processing.

Synaptics is also showcasing several touch, biometric, audio and interface solutions. Demonstrations will include notebook PCs featuring its capacitive-based Natural ID Match-in-Sensor fingerprint authentication and optical-based Clear ID fingerprint sensors. Synaptics will also showcase a non-mechanical TouchPad with haptics and Kensington VeriMark solutions.

Synaptics recently reported that its net revenue for the third quarter of fiscal 2019 is down from the same quarter last year based on softening biometrics demand in China.
