SUV with Goodix fingerprint biometrics marks commercial introduction to automotive market

Fingerprint-Identification

Fingerprint authentication technology for the automotive market from Goodix has reached commercialization with the launch of the new Lynk & Co 05 coupe SUV.

Goodix’ biometric solution enables secure in-vehicle identification with a one-press login providing access to driver profiles, settings, and smart locks. Further applications of the technology expected in the future include Internet of Vehicles (IoV) and car alarm systems, according to the announcement.

The vehicle’s infotainment system automatically adjusts the rearview mirrors, seats, lighting, air conditioning, digital cockpit, security, and pre-set system parameters for a seamless personalized driving experience. Fingerprint authentication also secures access to the glove compartment and trunk, and supports multiple user accounts to meet the needs of car-sharing scenarios.

“Automobile intelligence is a rising trend,” says Dr. Bo Pi, CTO of Goodix. “We will continue to leverage our leading technological advantages in the fields of human interface, biometrics, and the Internet of Things to jointly innovate with renowned automobile customers. Together we will advance innovative applications for connected and smart vehicles, serving to deliver more secure, convenient, and intelligent driving experiences to global consumers.”

Goodix offers a complete hardware and software solution for OEMS and auto makers, qualified for industry specifications AEC-Q100 and IATF 16949 in chip design, production, and packaging testing. Severe environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, and electromagnetic fields.

The automotive biometrics market is expected to undergo massive growth over the next five years.

Fingerprint technology from Goodix was recently integrated with a pair of 5G flagship mobile devices.
