SmartMetric to provide biometric access card to university in Argentina

A major university in Buenos Aires, Argentina has placed an order for multi-function biometric security and identity cards from SmartMetric through the company’s new security card distributor Grupo Datco.

The university will use the card to secure cyber and physical access on campus, according to the announcement.

“We are delighted to see that our newly formed sales and marketing relationship with Grupo Datco is now delivering results,” said SmartMetric President and CEO Chaya Hendrick. “The exciting thing about this new strategic sale is the University has agreed to have its campus used as a demonstration installation allowing Datco to show others including businesses and Government the working biometric card.”

The distribution agreement between SmartMetric and Grupo Datco was reached earlier this year, and took effect at the beginning of the month.

SmartMetric’s RFID MiFare and smart card chips integrated in its access cards are FIPS approved, according to the announcement, and the cards’ thin fingerprint scanners allow them to be used with standard card readers.

The company reports strong interest in its all-in-one biometric card product from U.S. Federal Government departments such as the Department of Defense and Homeland Security, following its recent attendance at connect:ID.
