SmartMetric signs dealership agreement for biometric card sales in South America

SmartMetric announced it has entered into an agreement with Argentina-based telecoms and IT holding company Grupo Datco for the sales and marketing of its multifunction cyber access, building access and identity security card in South America.

The SmartMetric biometric card uses a person’s fingerprint to activate the card in a secure on card scan and match. The card is self-powered with a rechargeable battery, conforms to ISO size standards for credit cards and is protected by five patents. The card can be used with standard desktop smart card readers for cyber access and also has an in-built RFID MiFare allowing the same card to be used for doorway and building access.

The SmartMetric biometric card also acts as an identity card that can be used to validate a card holder without being inserted into a reader as two bright LED lights indicate green or red when the card holder touches the cards surface. Green for a positive match, red for a negative one. The internal rechargeable battery allows this instant ID verification to take place anywhere on a business or government grounds or building.

“We are excited about our new relationship with a major company in the security integration industry in South America and are confident that sales will follow as they present our unique leading edge biometric card product throughout the South American region,” said SmartMetric’s President and CEO, Chaya Hendrick.
