SmartMetric reports interest from banks for its biometric credit card, awarded five patents

SmartMetric revealed that it is in card purchasing talks with more than seven banks from Europe, Asia, Middle East, Latin America and the United States and distributors and representatives wanting to participate in the global sales and marketing of the its biometric credit card.

The SmartMetric Biometric Card is built around the EMV chip card and uses a person’s fingerprint to activate the card in a secure on card scan and match. It is self-powered with a rechargeable battery and scans and matches a person’s fingerprint in less than 0.25 seconds. All of its scanning and matching is conducted inside the card. Once the user’s fingerprint has been verified, the card is activated and able to be used. The card conforms to ISO size standards for credit cards.

Chaya Hendrick, president and CEO at SmartMetric, said the company is “… able to manufacture 1 million cards a month and are able to rapidly increase this production capacity to over 10 million cards a month as demand from card issuers increases.”

In other company news, SmartMetric has been issued five patents covering biometric fingerprint cards.

“We are excited to announce the issuance of these new patents that give a tremendous protection for the years and dollars we have invested in developing our breakthrough biometric card technology,” commented Hendrick.
