Pilot begins for biometric dual interface smartcards with IDEX sensors at Asian bank

An Asian bank customer has begun testing biometric cards manufactured by Feitian Technologies with IDEX Biometrics’ dual interface fingerprint sensors.

In its most recent quarterly report, IDEX touted its progress towards commercialization of biometric smart card products, and said it expects volume deliveries to begin by mid-2019.

“We are very pleased that a bank in Asia has commenced piloting biometric cards with our dual interface sensor,” comments IDEX Biometrics CEO Stan Swearingen. “In July of this year we announced that Feitian had integrated our dual interface sensor into their cards, and they have now commenced piloting the product with their first customer.”

Feitian’s completed validation and engineering integration with IDEX technology was announced in July, when Swearingen noted that the first application is for a major Chinese payment network.

Feitian will showcase the dual interface cards featuring IDEX sensors at the 2018 TrustTech trade show in Cannes, November 27 to 29.
