Iveda launches AI video search appliance with facial and object recognition

Video surveillance company Iveda has launched an artificial intelligence-powered video search appliance with facial recognition capabilities.

IvedaAI includes a self-contained server and AI software which can search a combination of objects from large or small camera networks in less than a second, according to the announcement, and is offered for resale by security integrators, telecoms, and alarm and monitoring companies. The company says its facial recognition matches an uploaded image with faces found in footage, rather than a database of enrolled faces, and has a matching accuracy above 95 percent.

The software also includes object detection capability, which can be used to detect intrusion. While traditional intrusion detection systems detect objects based on size, and do not recognize object types, IvedaAI uses a virtual fence and a builti-in AI algorithm to recognize more than 100 types of objects, the company says.

“We’ve been getting positive feedback from our current partners, both in the U.S. and abroad,” said David Ly CEO of Iveda. “They have already identified end users that will greatly benefit from IvedaAI, such as banks and schools.”

IvedaAI has high accuracy in low-light conditions with thermal or IR cameras, and it can be used as a standalone unit which processes video directly from cameras or through third-party NVR (network video recorder), DVR (digital video recorder), and VMS (video management system) platforms.

AnyVision and Genetec recently formed a partnership to provide face and object recognition for security systems.
