Ipsidy has upgraded its biometric facial recognition products Proof and Verified with standard web browser application support for mobile and desktop users to prevent identity fraud, the company announced.

“Ipsidy is committed to ensuring our clients know the identity of their users with biometric certainty,” said Phillip Kumnick, Ipsidy CEO, in a prepared statement. “The expansion of our facial biometric identity services to seamless web browser applications reflects our vision of delivering frictionless identity experiences that establish the highest level of assurance and mutual trust in today’s digital and remote world.”

Ipsidy’s IDaaS platform uses a seamless web interface to provide facial biometric identity services, without additional steps such as downloading a mobile application. Through a desktop web-browser or a link sent via SMS to their mobile devices, users can provide a selfie to confirm identity online. In June, Ipsidy upgraded the IDaaS platform to authenticate North American driver’s licenses.

The security and trust features embedded in the mobile application and SDK are transferred to the web browser solution for a frictionless experience. The enhancement includes upgraded image quality, selfie liveness detection and anti-spoofing to improve online financial application and enrollment, student onboarding, access verification and sale of age-restricted products.

The web-browser application is also available for Verified which provides mobile multi-factor authentication. Combining Proof and liveness detection, Verified conducts a biometric audit of consent and identity verification across online transactions, funds transfers, account changes or customer support activity.

Ipsidy has joined the Temenos MarketPlace, a platform that helps banks access innovative technologies, and recently partnered with PharmacyID to develop a mobile biometric identity verification solution with high assurance for the Australian market.
