Intercede service enables developers to load apps on TEE-embedded Android devices

Intercede announced it launched MyTAM, a full hosted cloud service that enables app developers to load apps, such as biometric solutions, directly onto the trusted execution environment (TEE) in Android devices.

The Trustonic TEE, which is embedded in many Android devices, helps prevent hackers from accessing sensitive user data stored on smartphones.

Mobile devices supporting biometric authentication (fingerprint, facial recognition and voice) can currently store the user data inside the TEE, which has led to many governments to consider other ways in which TEE can be deployed to store the necessary data to gain secure access to sensitive services.

MyTAM runs on the Intercede platform, which provides the end-to-end encryption of app loading, signed operations, signed audit trail and multi-level security in the cloud and on the device.

Trusted apps that are registered with the MyTAM service are provided to app develops, along with client libraries, allowing them to use the service without having the expertise to operate it.

As a result, app developers, their customers and end user data will all benefit from higher levels of security and trust.

“Intercede is delighted to have partnered with Trustonic on this exciting initiative to better secure the mobile ecosystem,” said Richard Parris, CEO of Intercede. “With Android powering the majority of the world’s smart devices, it is imperative to ensure that any mobile apps running on this open platform can be both trusted and protected from attack by rogue agents.

“The Intercede MyTAM service has early mover advantage and technical superiority in satisfying this need. With the Trustonic TEE built into more than 250 million devices, the addressable market for the Intercede MyTAM service is large and growing. We look forward to announcing our launch customers at Mobile World Congress next month.”
