At this year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Goodix Technology is highlighting the successful commercialization of its in-display fingerprint sensor technology, introducing its ‘Sensor + MCU + Security + Connectivity’ IoT platform and releasing two wearable sensors.

Goodix’s optical in-display fingerprint sensor is featured in 22 smartphone models by brands including OnePlus, Honor, and Lenovo. The Shenzhen-headquartered company notes it has filed over 500 patents for the technology.

The company’s new IoT platform ‘Sensor + MCU + Security + Connectivity’ is, according to the announcement, a complete software and hardware platform around physical perception, data processing, wireless transmission, and data security aimed at smart home, smart city, and smart transportation applications.

The GH61X sensor series is a 2-in-1 solution that combines multi-channel in-ear detection and touch control. The GH30X series is the the second generation of the ultra-small heart rate detection sensors with ultra-low power consumption.

According to market insight by IHS Markit Principal Analyst Jamie Fox, Goodix was the capacitive fingerprint sensor market leader in 2018, shipping the most capacitive and optical sensors, as well as the most in-display sensors.
