Egis Technology is looking for a quick dismissal of the patent infringement lawsuit Goodix filed against it last year.

According to a statement released by Egis Technology, the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) has declared Goodix’s patent ZL201820937410.2 invalid and as this was the patent referred to in the litigation pending against Egis, “the patent infringement lawsuit becomes baseless and should be promptly dismissed.”

Goodix filed the patent infringement complaint against Egis Technology with the Beijing Intellectual Property Court last July, alleging Egis had used protected intellectual property covering key technologies which are important to essential features and functions of in-display biometric fingerprint sensor technology. Goodix was looking for ¥50.5 million (US$7.35 million) in compensation plus legal costs.

Egis Technology reported monthly revenue for January of NT$548 million (US$18.2 million), down from the previous month but an increase of 38.4 percent from the same month in 2019. The company plans to host a Q4 2019 earnings conference call mid-March.
