FEITIAN launches FPC-powered biometric card for enterprise and payment markets

FEITIAN Technologies has launched a line of biometric smart cards for enterprise and payment applications, powered by Fingerprint Cards’ technology and providing contactless authentication.

The Fingerprint Power Card includes FPC’s T-Shape fingerprint module for authentication supporting FIDO, FIDO2, PKI, and OTP protocols, along with physical access, identification, payment, and access to applications or data, according to the announcement. The card runs on RFID or NFC connections and power harvested from the card reader. The user’s fingerprint is enrolled through a desktop or mobile application, and data is stored within the card’s secure element.

“Our Fingerprint Power Card is an all-in-one biometric card that combines technologies that allow for security, convenience, and cost-savings,” said FEITIAN Technologies Vice President and General Manager of International Business Tibi Zhang. “Because the fingerprint data is always stored cryptographically and locally on your device and isn’t sent anywhere else or held by any other party, it makes our all-in-one Power Card the perfect combination of portability and security for access control, identification, and payment solutions.”

Enterprises can combine identification, physical and logical access authentication in a single biometric form factor for reduced cost and increased security, FEITIAN says.

“We have been partners with FEITIAN working on their biometric product portfolio for a long time and see a bright future for the passwordless and connected world of FIDO2 authentication,” says Thomas Rex, Fingerprint Cards SVP Business Line Smartcards and Embedded. Thomas continues, “The built-in fingerprint sensor will quickly verify fingerprints and automatically unlock devices, with a simple touch allowing easy access to an account or physical environment.”

FEITIAN is demonstrating a range of security products at RSA Conference 2019.

Zwipe also recently announced it is integrating FPC’s T-Shape module with its biometric cards.
