BrainChip upgrades video analysis software

BrainChip has announced upgrades to its AI-powered video analysis software BrainChip Studio to make it easier to find objects from a variety of camera views, support large-scale Linux deployments, and simplify application integration with an API.

Version 2018.1 of BrainChip Studio introduces auto-generation of rotated models by creating a spiking neural network model of the object, which improves the ability to locate the object from other camera angles. The new version also allows BrainChip Studio to be controlled with an API-level interface, which enables it to be integrated with third-party applications, including off-the-shelf or custom video surveillance software.

“In only the past 6 months, BrainChip Studio and BrainChip Accelerator have been recognized internationally as one of the most advanced video analytic offerings for law enforcement, winning awards from Security Today Magazine in the United States, the Milipol Innovation Award in France, and commendation at the Security and Counterterrorism Expo in the United Kingdom,” noted Bob Beachler, BrainChip’s Senior Vice President of Marketing and Business Development. “Based on customer feedback, we will continue to enhance our products to expand their applications and capabilities.”

Beachler noted that not only is Linux used by some BrainChip customers due to its low cost in large installations, but the operating systems streamlined nature also delivers a 10 percent performance improvement for BrainChip Studio over Windows.

The company will demonstrate BrainChip Studio version 2018.1 at ISC West 2018, April 11 to 13 in Las Vegas.

BrainChip said previously that an AU$21.5 million fundraising round last year would be partially used to develop its existing video analytics products.
