Anil Jain presents on biometrics at ZKTeco corporate headquarters

ZKAccess, a division of ZKTeco and leading provider of biometric and RFID security solutions, recently hosted biometrics expert Dr. Anil Jain at its headquarters in Shenzhen, China.

While there, Dr. Jain gave a presentation summarizing the history of biometrics, and current and emerging applications. About 200 ZKTeco and ZKAccess staff attended the presentation, including the sales teams and scientists and engineers in the R&D department.

“We at ZKAccess are so honored to have hosted Dr. Jain at our corporate headquarters in China,” said Manish Dalal, COO, ZKAccess. “His dedication and contributions to the field of biometrics are beyond impressive.”

According to a company statement, Dr. Jain has previously tested and subsequently employed ZKAccess technology solutions for fingerprint recognition for infants and toddlers for the purpose of identification and recording their immunization histories. Following Dr. Jain’s recent visit to the company’s headquarters additional collaborations are in the planning stages.

Dr. Jain is world renowned for biometric recognition, computer vision and fingerprint-matching technology and also serves as a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at Michigan State University. He has received a Guggenheim fellowship, Humboldt Research award, Fulbright fellowship, IEEE Computer Society Technical Achievement award, IEEE W. Wallace McDowell award, IAPR King-Sun Fu Prize, IEEE ICDM Research Contribution Award, IAPR Senior Biometric Investigator Award, and the MSU Withrow Teaching Excellence Award for contributions to pattern recognition and biometrics. He is also a member of the United States National Academy of Engineering.

Earlier this year, Dr. Jain was elected to the National Academy of Engineering. Election to the NAE is one of the highest professional distinctions accorded to an engineer. The academy honors those who have made outstanding contributions to engineering research, practice, or education, and to the pioneering of new and developing fields of technology, making major advancements in traditional fields of engineering or developing/implementing innovative approaches to engineering education. Jain was selected for his contributions to engineering and practice of biometrics.
